Why Join This Study?

We’re enrolling participants in the REZILIENCE Study to evaluate an injectable medication that may help ease pain caused by shoulder osteoarthritis.

You may qualify for the REZILIENCE Study if you:

  • Are 50-80 years old
  • Have been experiencing osteoarthritis in one shoulder
  • Do not have surgical hardware in the affected shoulder

There is no cost to take part in the REZILIENCE Study. Study-related care and treatment are provided at no cost and overseen by a specialized medical team. Reimbursement for study-related travel and transportation expenses may be available.

What happens if I sign up? If you think you might like to participate in the REZILIENCE Study for shoulder osteoarthritis, or would like more information, please fill out the questionnaire below so we can see if you qualify and can contact you about the study. Keep in mind that participation is entirely voluntary.

If you pass the initial screener, we will match you to a REZILIENCE Study location in your area or notify you when one becomes available. If there is not a current study for shoulder osteoarthritis in your area, we may reach out to you in the future via email, phone, or text to share information about new study opportunities that may be a good fit.

About Shoulder Osteoarthritis

When the joints in the shoulder begin to deteriorate, causing stiffness, pain, and reduced range of motion, it’s known as shoulder osteoarthritis. This degenerative joint disease affects nearly 1 in 3 people over the age of 60.1

Symptoms of shoulder osteoarthritis may get worse during or after physical activity and include:

  • Pain that may increase over time
  • Stiffness and/or tenderness
  • Weakness
  • Grinding sensation or clicking noise
  • Limited range of motion2

Chronic overuse, aging, previous injuries or surgeries, and genetics are all causes of shoulder osteoarthritis.3 Treatments often involve multiple approaches: pain management (ice, heat, and NSAIDs), physical therapy, lifestyle adjustments (avoiding painful activities), medication (corticosteroid injections), and sometimes surgery.4

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a clinical research study?

A clinical research study (also called a clinical trial) is a medical study that helps to answer important questions about investigational medications, treatments, or devices—these may include how well study medications, treatments, or devices work for a certain condition. All medications must be tested in clinical research studies before they can be approved and prescribed to patients.

A clinical research study is the process by which new and innovative medications, interventions, and treatments are reviewed and analyzed before being approved and brought to market.

Investigational medications are not yet available to the public outside of a clinical trial setting. Even over-the-counter medications, such as NSAIDs you may have used to counteract a headache, have gone through the clinical research study process before they were available at your local pharmacy.

This clinical trial aims to determine whether the treatment may help reduce pain in your shoulder due to osteoarthritis. If the investigational medicine is effective, it may also support other patients with arthritis in their shoulders.

The purpose of the study is to test investigational injectable medication to see whether it may reduce shoulder pain due to osteoarthritis.

Reimbursement for study-related travel and transportation expenses may be available to those who qualify to take part in the study. You can discuss this further with the study team. There is no cost to participate in this study. Study-related care and treatment will be provided to you at no cost by a specialized medical team. Insurance is not required to participate.

The research team will be able to explain more about what the REZILIENCE Study involves, and it is up to you to decide if you want to take part. Participation in the study is voluntary. Whether or not you decide to participate in this study will not affect your current or future relationships with your doctors.

If you qualify, we will match you to a study site closest to your home. If we are not currently running the study in your area, with your permission, we will keep you in our database and reach out once a study in your area becomes available. If, at any time, you decide you no longer want your information stored, you can opt out, and we will delete your details.

About REZILIENCE Study

About the REZILIENCE Study

The REZILIENCE Study for shoulder osteoarthritis is looking to enroll approximately 250 participants at research sites across the United States. If you qualify, you will receive one dose of the investigational injectable medication in your affected shoulder. During the 24-week follow-up period, the study team will monitor your progress, assess the effectiveness of the medication, and provide support. During this time, you will be asked to answer questions about your pain in an electronic diary, or application on your phone.

Investigational medication and study-related care will be provided at no cost. Reimbursement for study-related travel and transportation expenses may be available.
